Team Celebrates the Year Members of the Smash
gathered at the Mexicali Grill in Santa Clara for its end of the
year holiday party last week (12/15). Good times by all. Happy
Holidays!!

Bearden represented the team at the PNW Sectional Championships in
Portland, Oregon. Don won the Doubles draw and reached the finals in

SoCal The team sent out two squads this past weekend for
events in Upland and Redwood City. At the SoCal Championships in
Upland, team member Marlene Alatorre won the Women's A Singles and
Doubles titles.

Redwood City Up/Down The Pacific Athletic Club in Redwood
City hosted the TIES Up/Down tournament. The Smash team was joined
by members of the Sacramento team for this fun event Sunday
afternoon.

Golden State Challenge Has
Moved The Golden State Challenge, hosted by the
team, has new location and weekend. This year the tournament will be
held at Santa Clara University on August 1-2, 2009.
Courtside Auction II Thank you to the members of
Courtside Club who bid during the silent auction last week. Their
support is very much appreciated.

Courtside Auction The yearly sports memorabilia
silent auction that benefits the team starts Friday, May 15th at
Courtside Club in Los Gatos, and ends Thursday, May 21. Items will
be on display in the lobby

improved Manteca tournament.

SAP Open Demo Thursday evening, team members, Don
Bearden, Sharon Kelleher and Lee Williamson, along with Sacramento
player, David Van Brunt, played a two game, no-add, wheelchair
tennis demo during the SAP Open at the HP Pavilion in San Jose.

"Heroes" Banquet Team members, Sharon Kelleher
and Johnny Rios, who also co-chair the USTA NorCal Wheelchair Tennis
Committee together, presented awards under the wheelchair category
at the USTA NorCal "Heroes" Banquet in San Ramon last
