Wheelchair Tennis at Expo Members
of the team will be on hand, Sunday (11/5), to demonstrate
wheelchair tennis at the Santa Clara Convention Center during the
2006 Abilities Expo. Stop by the Far West Wheelchair Sports booth
(booth #824). The Abilities Expo runs November 3-5, 2006. Click

Smash Heads to Truckee Four team
members traveled to the Tahoe/Donner tournament. This international
tournament had over 60 players representing 12 countries from around
the world. Smash Players included: Don Bearden, Justin
Kim, Daniel Michener and Johnny Rios

Local Tournament a Huge Success The
Golden State Challenge, marking its 5th year, drew 27 players
from Northern and Southern California. Smash Players included: Marlene
Alatorre, Don Bearden, Christine Burke, Brian Gulan, Sharon
Kelleher, Justin Kim, Dave MacArthur, Daniel Michener, Johnny Rios,
Lee Williamson and Patrick Wong

spectacular volley shots during a practice match Saturday.

Team in Training After a rain
soaked March and April, the team is enjoying warmer weather. Everyone
is hitting well and the tournament players are looking forward to
their upcoming tournaments. Plus, we have had a few new people (Newbies!)
drop in to give wheelchair tennis a try.

Team Opens Season in Manteca Five
members of the team started their tournament season at the 1st Manteca
Wheelchair Tournament. All members reached the finals in either

"Champions on Wheel" the movie
The movie "Champions on Wheels," about a few U.S. wheelchair
tennis players, will be shown at the Tiburon Film Festival on Sunday,
March 12th at 11a.m, at the Tiburon Playhouse Theatre. Smash team member, Sharon Kelleher, is one of the featured players.
